Can you tell me more about the Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering program offered by the University of Bern and the Bern University of Applied Sciences?

  • Most information about this program is available online.
  • We also offer information events. More information is available here
  • If you live in Switzerland, you may come to one of our IEEE EMBS events. This is a good opportunity to learn about the biomedical engineering field and we may discuss your questions personally.
  • All information regarding admissions is available online. In case that you have questions that are not answered there, please contact the Admissions Office of the University of Bern. If you do not have an appropriate Swiss degree, your application has to be evaluated by our Study Board. For this, it is necessary that you send your complete application package to the University of Bern.

I am interested in the major "Electronic Implants". What companies are working in this field in Switzerland?

How can I find a room or an apartment in the Bern/Biel area?

  • Accommodation links list of BFH
  • Accommodation links list of BFH-TI
  • There are ads posted in the entrance area of the BFH-TI main building at Quellgasse 21 in Biel.
  • There is a room and apartment list available upon request at the Zentralsekretariat of BFH-TI.
  • If you cannot find a room, consider renting an apartment together with fellow students.

Can I work for you?

  • A requirement is that a suitable project and funding is available. Even if I do not have a project for you right away, I may store your application and contact you later (once a suitable project is available). If you do not require payment, short-term internships are sometimes available in my group. This is a good experience and sometimes a larger, paid project can be found/defined during this time.

  • Please send me your complete application in electronic form:
    - An application letter in English (see below)
    - CV with picture of yourself
    - All transcripts (grades) of your studies (current and past)
    - Contact information of references if available

  • Address the following questions in your application letter (written in English!):
    - What are your main areas of competence?
    - How much practical experience do you have in these areas?
    - In what field(s) would you like to work?
    - Do you have already a project idea in mind? If yes, please describe it.
    - How many hours per week would you like to work in my group?
    - When would you like to start working in my group?
    - How many months do you intend to work in my group?
